PARKING ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

January 10, 2019

Welcome and opening remarks: Diane Drawhorn

 

The Parking Advisory Committee will be the eyes and ears for all things regarding parking lots and parking on campus.  Committee will be providing recommendations for improvement of parking on campus. Committee will be making decisions on parking violations and policy.

OLD BUSINESS:

 

  • Report on the FORGIVENESS PROGRAM: November 27-28-29-30.  See attached recap

 

  • Parking violation appeals process.

Committee to turn in DECEMBER APPEALS that were distributed prior to today’s meeting.

 

  • Signage:

 

  • Committee was asked to assist in prioritizing parking lots that need the most attention for repair and replacement.

Some suggestions were E-5 Library restriping, Pave one or more of the T-Lots, G-2 lot needs pot hole repair and directional arrows

 

  • Lot F-6 suffered a cave in caused by a Fire Truck. Construction and concrete work is to begin soon.

Planning and Construction will provide repaving and striping as part of the STEM bldg. project.

Note:  Clinic does not start until February.  Also there are plans for accessibility to Rolph Christopher.

 

  • Mobile App – LiveSafe: The app enables you to: (1) Report tips anonymously to safety officials; (2) Share your location with safety officials in an emergency; (3) Start a SafeWalk with your friends or family (4) See crimes and safety info in your area. NEW BUSINESS:

  • Open comments from the committee members.

   More communication across campus regarding were to park and ride safe.

  LUPD requested reserved spaces for their employees in Lot D-8.  This was referred to the

Executive level for review. The executive decision was that only the President has a reserved parking space on campus.

 The Parking Advisory Committee will communicate with Planning & Construction regarding the need

     For canopy’s in pick up and drop off areas to allow for inclement weather protection.  

 Discussion from the committee regarding additional sidewalks and jogging/walking pathways.  This

   Need to be communicated to the Planning and Construction department.  This would require working

  With TXDOT and City of Beaumont for some right of way and easement access.
