New scholarship in athletics established

¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ recently finalized the Scott Curtis Memorial Scholarship in Athletics thanks to a gift from the Dugas Leger Law Firm. It will be awarded annually starting in the fall of 2017.

Steven Scott Curtis graduated from Bridge City High School in 1999 where he played football, ran track and was a member of the record setting 4x100 meter relay team. He later graduated from ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in biology.

Curtis was the owner and operator of the Parisi Speed School and the general manager of Exygon Health and Fitness. He was a dedicated business owner and aspired to encourage and empower athletes as a coach and teacher.

The recipient must be a full time student earning a bachelor’s degree and must be a member of the ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ track team. Additionally, the recipient must meet National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Southland Conference, Texas State University System and ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ academic ability requirements, including the University athletic program GPA, to remain on the scholarship.
