Dallas Cowboys executive VP to present at LU
The ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ Academic Lecture Series welcomes Charlotte Jones Anderson, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president and chief brand officer, to speak April 4 at 7 p.m. in the Price Auditorium, Herman Iles Building. The free event is hosted by the College of Business and open to the public.
“Anderson is more than just a powerful businesswoman; she is a philanthropist and a true visionary. Her spirit for service and passion for business is exactly what we hope to inspire in our students and the community,” said Kayce Stutzman, marketing coordinator for the College of Business.
Anderson directs the Cowboys’ brand marketing, fan engagement, stadium design, entertainment, licensed apparel, cause marketing and community relations. As Chairman of the NFL Foundation and a spearhead of NFL participation in youth football, she is the first woman to represent club ownership as leader of a major professional sports league foundation.
She played a key role in the creation of the AT&T Stadium, which has featured some of the highest profile sports and entertainment events in the world. Anderson is also the president of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
“We can learn how to defy odds from Anderson,” said Stutzman.
“As the first woman to serve in these top positions, she didn’t let precedent limit her and rose to the top through hard work, becoming an unlikely powerhouse.”
Anderson’s history of community involvement includes her leadership as the first woman to chair The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board, where she introduced innovative and effective fundraising techniques. Today, she holds various leadership positions in organizations supporting sports, education, youth, the arts, politics and medicine.
Charlotte graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Stanford University. She is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, married and a mother of three children.
Since moving to the Dallas area in 1989, Anderson has actively participated in leadership roles for a variety of organizations, such as The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Southwestern Medical Foundation, the President’s Advisory Council for The Dallas Center for Performing Arts Foundation, TACA board of governors, The Rise School, Shelton School, Make-A-Wish North Texas Presidents Council, Dallas Symphony and the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.
Anderson chaired the 2014 North Texas Final Four Host Committee for the record setting men’s basketball championship at AT&T Stadium. She is also a member of the board of directors of Hilltop Corporation and serves as president of the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation and the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Arlington Youth Foundation.
The ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ Academic Lecture Series, funded by student service fees, adds a significant asset to the university by supporting the LU academic community to hold two lectures each year featuring distinguished speakers whose disciplines are represented by each of the university’s colleges.
