More than 40 schools to attend college fair at LU
¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ is hosting the Southeast Texas College Fair featuring more than 40 colleges and universities.
On Thurs., Sep. 12, from 6-8 p.m. in the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Center students and their families will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from colleges and universities from across the country.
“Anyone can attend – a transfer student, adult learner, educator, alumni, and, of course prospective high school students,” said Tony Sarda, director of recruitment with ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ. “It’s a free event we believe is a tremendous service to the community.”
Instead of driving across the state of Texas to tour other colleges and universities, Sarda said this event allows students and their families to learn about a college without having to take a road trip.
Some of the schools attending this year’s Fair include: Louisiana Tech University, Northwestern State University, Ole Miss, Prairie View A&M University, The University of Alabama, The University of Texas, Universidad de las Américas, Puebla and many more.
Each school will host a table and have representatives available to answer students’ questions. ¿ìÉ«ÊÓƵ will have a significant presence at the Fair. Representatives from LU’s academic colleges will be available to speak about specific programs, degree plans and opportunities for student engagement. LU will also have representatives to discuss financial aid and scholarships.
“We believe strongly enough in LU to have others on campus,” said Sarda. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase who we are.”
